Colour by Numbers

Finally exposed screens and printed sample run of my 6 colour Carnie image. Maybe a wee bit adventurous the design to hand screen-print with so many colours. Mental note, adhere fabric to surface first. Although I do not mind prints slightly out of registration, it adds character and movement.

Below is my colour by numbers exercise.

This print is designed for adult t-shirts, available in charcoal, army green and navy mens long sleeve tees.

Next print run, smaller image of clown on right hand side on kiddies tees!

Giraffe Colour-way Variation

Fossicking amongst the piles of fabric I have collect over the years, I came across this sample print I purchased back in the early 90's from 'Mambo' One of the many colour-way samples I purchased from them when they had a sale.

So, not only is this a one off piece of cloth, it has a history behind it and time to finally make use of it.

Another doubled sided giraffe to the collection, using wide whale corduroy on the other side in a gorgeous shade of charcoal

My Little Dirt Girl

After 8-9 years, our mass fruit tree planting has paid off. We always wanted to have an edible practical garden. I explored permaculture 20 odd years ago, in a tiny semi-detaced terrace house in my bygone years of innner city life in downtown Enmore. Mostly concrete, with a thin stripe of dirt running along the fence line. This became my first garden bed.

Much of our permaculture in the Northern Rivers resembles an overgrown jungle, but as you can see from todays pick it works..favourite pick of the day was the pineapple, followed by custard apple, pepinos, bell chillis, tomatoes, bananas (super sweet), guavas, passionfuit and avocado.

Kookaburra Softie

after much deliberation, I finally tackled the kookaburra softie, the colours and print are usually the starting point for any of my critters.

after many weeks of patiently waiting, we are just starting to see our first silkie hatchlings appear. sunday morning I spotted a tiny beak emerging from a small hole in the side of an egg, and couple hours later I just had to checkin on progress and discovered our first baby. Feeling like a proud mom!

this is an awesome new experience for my family, especially seeing the glint of excitement in the kids faces. So hubbie and myself spent the following day airing, cleaning and re-position chook pen, giving it a northerly aspect. the rooster has been banished from pen till further notice, as I did discovered a discarded crushed egg with a wee chick that hadn't quite entered this world..very sad.

have spotted more hairline cracks, which I have been informed is the first stage to eggs hatching. another beak cracking its way free spotted today, so by the end of the day - no. 2 will emerge.
